The study of the roots of the correspondence novel in Iranian literature brings us to the letters of Kamal-od-Dowleh by Mirza Fath-Ali Akhundzadeh. Influenced by Western literature, and in particular by Montesquieu's Iranian letters, Akhundzadeh wrote his most important work in the form of correspondence with similar themes. This study attempts to examine the genre of Kamal-od-Dowleh Akhundzadeh's letters based on the theory of intertextuality in a descriptive and analytical manner. The aim of this analysis is to identify the similarities and differences between Kamal-od-Dowleh's letters and Iranian letters. Both works use the form of correspondence and use it as a tool for social criticism. A careful study of the style and form of correspondence in these two works shows that this conscious choice was made by the authors with the aim of conveying their own views. They use the perspective of foreign figures to criticize their societies. These works share common themes such as criticism of the political and social system, religious institutions, and calls for social reform. Issues such as identity, governance, and educational progress are also examined in both works. Both authors lived in turbulent political and social periods and faced censorship and social opposition. In writing "The Letters of Kamal al-Dawlah", Akhundzadeh, while remaining faithful to the main concepts of Montesquieu's work, creatively adapts the topics to the cultural and political conditions of Iran. .
