English

As the primary agents involved in the translation production process, translators play a crucial role in the translation industry. Therefore, it is essential for them to focus on establishing job satisfaction so that they can progress more effectively in their careers. The concept of job satisfaction has attracted attention from numerous researchers in the field of psychology. Since translation studies is an interdisciplinary domain, to explore new research areas, it continually draws inspiration from various humanities disciplines, including psychology. Given that no similar research was found in the Iranian context, the researchers of this article translated well-known questionnaires of job satisfaction, tilted the Job Descriptive Index and the Job in General Index, and utilized them to assess Iranian translators' levels of job satisfaction. The results revealed both short-term and long-term satisfaction among translators. Additionally, the respondents enjoyed the act of translating, found satisfaction in their relationships with clients, coworkers, and supervisors, and were satisfied with opportunities for promotion in the translation profession. However, translators were dissatisfied with the remuneration from translation work. After collecting demographic information and comparing means, it was determined that younger translators and less experienced respondents were more satisfied with promotional opportunities. Moreover, more experienced translators reported greater satisfaction regarding their income.
