Jean Tolle is a contemporary French writer who has published many novels and has many works, especially in the field of death. In many of his works, death and existential anxiety can be seen side by side. This article examines the novel The Suicide Shop, focusing on the connection between literary humor and existential anxiety. Using dark humor, this novel depicts a world in which despair and the meaninglessness of life have become commonplace. The present article, with a linguistic approach, attempts to show how the author's linguistic choices play a role in the formation of humor and at the same time instilling a sense of existential anxiety. By contrasting comedic situations with bitter themes, Teulé creates an atmosphere in which humor is not only a means of entertainment, but also a way to represent the crisis of meaning and the feeling of meaninglessness in contemporary human life. The findings of this research show that language in this novel plays a fundamental role in highlighting the experience of existential anxiety and the concept of meaninglessness, and calls the audience to a deep reflection on the human condition and the search for meaning in life. In this research, we try to understand how we can reach a deeper understanding of the meaning of death by understanding the ideas of this contemporary writer on philosophical-literary-linguistic cognition.
