Referring to a past moment is one possible way to locate suspended memories in the mind. During narration, the narrator sometimes indicates a specific or extended moment upon which the temporality of the unfolding events depends. The question arises: How can we grasp, from a linguistic point of view, the place and value of these absolute temporal markers? What role does their phenomenological nature play in the reader's understanding of time? How can their linguistic and phenomenological function be conveyed in Persian translation? This research’s aim is to identify the possibilities of equivalence in French-Persian translation. To answer this question, using grammatical sources, we focus on determining the function and value of these temporal markers, then identifying them in French literary contexts. Finally, analyzing their Persian translation allows us to understand the translator's approach in choosing equivalents. Therefore, as highlighted in the discussion of the grammatical function of absolute time indicators, these indicators simultaneously specify the time of the action and the temporality of the context. Similarly, in the phenomenology of time, the rationale for these two functions is explained by the fact that the internal representation, as a second function of these temporal indicators, is formed based on the act of memorization. However, in Persian translation, some equivalents disregard this second function, which could lead to a misinterpretation.
